Halloween: The Game Patch Notes & Latest Update

Read Halloween: The Game patch notes for the latest official version, Patch 1.0.3, with balance changes, challenge updates, bug fixes, and an update history.

The short version

Quick answer

The latest official version covered here is Patch 1.0.3, released September 22, 2026. It rebalanced Michael and Civilians, retuned Progressive Challenges, addressed several gameplay bugs, and included general crash and optimization fixes. The notes do not explicitly resolve every issue identified by the developers on September 17.

Patch 1.0.3 — What Changed

Patch 1.0.3 arrived on September 22, 2026. This is a concise guide to the official changes, not a replacement for the developer's complete notes. Follow the linked guides for how individual systems work.

Michael, Bloodthirst and Downed Recovery

Michael gained damage resistance across all Bloodthirst levels. After he gets up from a Downed state, a short-duration buff provides Stagger immunity and increased damage resistance, melee damage, and melee attack speed; health regeneration and daze resistance also increase briefly. The official notes do not publish exact values or durations. See the Michael Myers guide and the arrest guide for the distinct combat and detention contexts.

Civilian Melee, Stats and Weapons

Capability now contributes less melee damage at high stat values and more at low values. High Capability contributes less to Grab Struggle. High Athleticism contributes less movement and sprint speed, while low Athleticism contributes more. The Heavyweight trait and the melee damage boost while Drunk were reduced; see the Civilians guide for the roster and stat distinctions.

Wood Axe and Pick-Axe combos are slower and their light and heavy attacks deal less damage. Overall melee weapon durability is lower, Civilian Stagger cooldowns are longer, and fewer heavy melee weapons, rifles, and shotguns spawn across maps. The notes do not say that escape-route key-item spawns were reduced.

Grabs and Pocket Knives

Failed Grab attempts now push Civilians less forcefully. Struggling free is easier at Stalk Tiers 0–2, while the Pocket Knife break-free minigame is slightly harder. These are balance descriptions, not published numerical timing or success-rate changes.

Progression, Stability and Other Fixes

The update retuned many Progressive Challenge goals and lets Passive Challenges keep gaining progress after Prestige, even though they may still appear locked. It also made knockdown and blind/disorient/stun challenges easier. The progression guide explains the system and selected changed goals.

The developer lists general crash fixes and optimization improvements, plus a fix allowing the Host of a Private Match to unlock achievements and trophies. Other named fixes include Bolt Cutters opening containers at low durability, movement loss after breaking free from a Grab, and Shape Jump or Killer Sense becoming stuck on cooldown. The achievements guide preserves platform requirements and tracking caveats.

Important 1.0.3 Challenge Changes

The official list is much longer than the examples below. For players whose existing Progressive Challenge progress already exceeds a newly reduced requirement, one more increment toward that objective is needed to complete it.

  • Thomas — Linebacker: knock Michael off his feet with an attack or other action 10 times.
  • Rachel — Superstitious Tools: blind, disorient, or stun Michael with suitable items 15 times. A tracking issue was addressed in Patch 1.0.2; the 1.0.3 notes retune the goal.
  • Alexis — Craftswoman: blind, disorient, or stun Michael with suitable items 30 times.

These are examples, not a complete Progressive Challenge database. The Perks & Progression guide keeps the current status separate from the earlier September 17 investigation.

What 1.0.3 Does Not Explicitly Confirm

The September 17 developer update flagged several problems. Patch 1.0.3 does not explicitly announce resolution of the four Story Mode difficulty cases—Chapter 2 Challenge 6, Chapter 4 Challenge 5, Chapter 4 Challenge 6, and Chapter 5 Challenge 6. The developer had said all Story Mode challenges were technically completable; the Story Challenges hub retains that distinction.

The notes also do not explicitly confirm that the potentially missed awards for Purely and simply Evil, Pumpkin Smasher, and Heavy Handed are resolved; that the previously described Prologue or Chapter 3 end-of-chapter AAR crash is resolved; or that Laurie's Quick Thinking Progressive Challenge has a fix. Absence from the 1.0.3 list is an evidence limit, not proof that any issue definitely persists.
