Halloween: The Game Chapter 1 Challenge 6 Guide

Complete Halloween: The Game Chapter 1 Challenge 6 by killing three qualifying Residents, learn why Bikers do not count, and use the final explore window.

The short version

Quick answer

Challenge 6 requires killing three qualifying Residents. Rabbit in Red Bikers do not count. Wait until TRACK DOWN AND KILL THE MECHANIC and OPTIONAL – EXPLORE THE AREA appear, then leave the Mechanic alone while you search the Workshop, garage route, and nearby residential areas. Use Resident Kill feedback to identify qualifying NPCs. CHALLENGE 6 COMPLETE can appear on the third valid kill; finish Chapter 1 normally afterward because immediate-quit persistence is not fully verified.

What Chapter 1 Challenge 6 Requires

The current screenshot-supported objective is: Kill three Residents in the chapter. This is a specific NPC-category requirement, not simply three kills anywhere in Chapter 1, and it does not require the other five Chapter 1 challenges.

Residents vs Targets

Some broader walkthroughs say “targets,” but the current challenge screen uses Residents. Killing any three NPCs is not enough. Resident Kill feedback is the best observable sign of the correct category, though it is not confirmed as the internal tracker.

Do Bikers Count?

No — Rabbit in Red Bikers do not count toward Challenge 6. That includes the final fleeing Biker. The Mechanic is also not one of the recommended three Residents: he is the required story target, and approaching or completing his objective closes the final exploration opportunity.

Sources conflict over some non-Biker NPCs behind the Rabbit in Red. Use clearly qualifying Residents in the later Optional Explore area instead.

When to Attempt Challenge 6

Progress through Rabbit in Red and chase the fleeing Biker until TRACK DOWN AND KILL THE MECHANIC appears with OPTIONAL – EXPLORE THE AREA. Do not approach the Mechanic yet. This is the practical final search window, though the game does not formally call it a point of no return.

Fast Three-Resident Route

  1. Reach the TRACK DOWN AND KILL THE MECHANIC and OPTIONAL – EXPLORE THE AREA objectives, then leave the Mechanic alone.
  2. Use Shape Jump or normal movement to search around the Workshop and garage route. Gameplay guides document qualifying Residents in this area, but do not support guaranteeing an exact fixed count.
  3. Use a straightforward direct kill. After each one, check for Resident Kill feedback. If it does not appear, do not assume that NPC advanced the challenge.
  4. If you still need Residents, continue into commonly documented residential areas behind the silo, along Copper Lane, or near the gas-station-side housing. Exact houses, named Residents, and spawn counts are not fixed requirements in this guide.
  5. On the third qualifying kill, look for CHALLENGE 6 COMPLETE. Return to the Mechanic objective and finish Chapter 1 normally.

This route avoids disputed bar NPCs and does not require Robert Johnson or another named trio.

Which Kill Methods Are Verified?

The strongest evidence supports using a simple direct weapon kill and confirming Resident Kill afterward. Special methods may also count, but Environmental Kills, Context Executions, and thrown-weapon kills have not been independently verified here and are unnecessary for this route.

Biker Shove, Broken Pool Cue, Context Execution, and Thrown Cleaver belong to other challenges; Challenge 6 does not require stacking them.

How to Confirm Completion

Screenshot-backed evidence shows CHALLENGE 6 COMPLETE when the third qualifying Resident dies. Immediate-quit persistence is not fully verified, so continue to the Mechanic and finish Chapter 1 normally.

Why Challenge 6 May Not Complete

Check target classification first: Bikers and disputed bar NPCs may not count, while a kill without Resident Kill is not confirmed progress. Approaching the Mechanic too early also ends the search window.

If three qualifying Residents fail, try another or replay Chapter 1 from Chapter Select. A fresh chapter is community troubleshooting, not an official requirement. Community-reported persistence issues exist, but classification can also explain failures; the challenge is not proven universally broken.

Patch 1.0.2 Status

Official Patch 1.0.2 included broader single-player challenge improvements, but did not list Chapter 1 Challenge 6 as a specific fix. It does not document changed Biker classification or dedicated Resident tracking work. Patch 1.0.2 is the build reviewed here.

What Is Still Being Verified

Still unverified: disputed Rabbit in Red NPC classification; named-Resident appearance; exact Workshop and residential spawns; house numbers; Copper Lane availability; environmental, contextual, and thrown-weapon kill consistency; immediate-quit persistence; platform-specific Patch 1.0.2 tracking; and any difficulty effect.

Do not rely on it. Finish the Mechanic objective and chapter normally.
